Abstract

This book addresses serious issues mankind faces, regarding the fate of life on our planet, as well as their causes and potential solutions. It also shows how science jointly with religion and faith could diminish the magnitude of these issues and of the imminent disaster lying ahead of human race.

The scope of the first chapter of the book is to investigate a potential relationship between the melting of icecap caused by the global warming and the global seismic activity. The first step is the analysis of seismic catalogues of the last decades, in order to establish if there is an ascending trend in the frequency or magnitude of the earthquakes, or to see whether this data exhibits certain features which could indicate a certain change in the pattern of the seismic activity of Earth. The increased seismic activity, and some changes in its pattern, are to be analyzed and explained using the models proposed and presented. These models describe and explain how reduction of pressure exerted by the melted icecap leads to a redistribution of gravity pressing forces due to the mass distribution of polar icecaps on the Earth’s crust and hence releases additional movement of tectonic plates, thus causing an increased seismic activity.

The second chapter of the book shows complicate issues in science, like the strange facts and realities pertaining to the quantum world. It explains why it is so difficult to understand and to solve those complicated issues. In order to understand these strange realities pertaining to the quantum phenomena to solve other complicate problems of science such as the climate change issues, one should give up the traditional way of thinking of the science and should also renounce the false idea of the rationalism, stating that reality can be fully known and understood only by using scientific reasoning.

The third chapter of this book is concerned with the logic of happiness, whereas happiness is most commonly seen and understood by man as a function of fulfilled wishes. It also shows the disastrous consequences for man and his home planet when engaging in this damaging way to search for happiness. This chapter also shows that the main reason for consumption and overuse of planet’s resources is that man has been efficiently trained for consumerism by various tactics and strategies which were applied to him in the recent past, with the purpose of making him “successful” and a “good” citizen. This chapter also provides some more conventional and nonconventional solutions to undo this evil of the “induced” necessity to consume in order to be happy.

The fourth chapter presents the main complicated science issues man has to solve, but it also presents reasons to explain present incapacity to solve them. It also shows ways to address more successfully those complicated issues, in order to find solutions.

The fifth chapter mainly deals with present day modern technologies and the early transhumanism ideas which generated them, also with the opportunities offered with the threats and dangers hidden within and behind these new technologies. It presents some very early transhumanism ideas and their relationship with the development of technology and how they almost virtually became reality in our days. Writers like Samuel Butler, Aldous Huxley or George Orwell, have long time predicted some of the issues humankind will face and suggested possible solutions to these future problems, which nowadays have become reality. This chapter also makes predictions and presents extensions of these early transhumanism ideas, related to the very recent evolutions in technology and artificial intelligence, but it also presents related dangers and possible future evolutions and solutions to these actual problems, as envisioned by the author of this book. Moreover, one dominant idea of this chapter is that people should use technology much smarter than they do nowadays, by avoiding the related addictions and manipulations, and with the aim to solve the issues created by mankind in the last hundred years or so.
