KIMURA’S DISEASE MASQUERADING AS BREAST MALIGNANCY

Kimura disease is a rare chronic inflammatory disorder of uncertain etiology, with a higher incidence in the Asian population. It is slowly progressing, benign condition with unknown etiology, usually affecting young men. The disease is characterized by head and neck lymphadenopathy often accompanied by eosinophilia and elevated serum IgE levels. Common sites of involvement are the parotid glands and the epitrochlear, axillary and inguinal lymph nodes. Microscopic picture reveals lymphoid proliferation with eosinophilic infiltration and an extremely raised serum IgE level. This entity needs to be differentiated from other benign conditions, which have a morphological overlap such as Castleman’s disease and Angiolymphoid hyperplasia with Eosinophilia (ALHE). We are presenting a case of a 38-year- old female, who presented with axillary swelling, which appeared as breast mass, where we could arrive at the definite diagnosis after a thorough clinical and histological work up.
