Abstract

Bilateral transmigration of mandibular canines is an extremely rare clinical entity. Repositioning of lower canines to their proper position is vital for good canine guided occlusion. The orthodontic traction and correction of such ectopically erupted teeth is almost an impossible task.

We present here a case of management of bilateral transmigration of mandibular canines positioned vertically in the midline (Type 5 pattern of Mupparapu classification) after extracting over-retained bilateral mandibular primary canines and right lower primary second molar in a 14-year old female.
