The purpose of the research was to compare and assess the efficacy of autologous Platelet-rich fibrin (PRF) as well as gelatin sponges in patients receiving continuous single or dual antiplatelet treatment in preventing hemorrhagic complications after tooth extraction.
Methods: In order to achieve haemostasis, one excision site was implanted with Abgel (control site) while the other was randomly chosen to have PRF (study area) . In addition to having antihemorrhagic properties, PRF accelerates tissue repair and wound closure, enabling a speedy recovery without excruciatingly painful experiences.
Results: Soft tissue healing is sped up and improved because to the PRF membrane's delayed release of growth factors and the clot's sturdy fibrin structure. Immediate bleeding, delayed bleeding, and soft tissue healing were the criteria examined. Fisher's Exact Test was used to statistically assess the data.
Conclusion: In patients receiving dual antiplatelet medication, PRF demonstrated to be a better option than abgel. Aspirin, however, continues to be the gold standard for both patients at high and low risk of these events in terms of preventing vascular death, ischemic stroke and myocardial infarctions.
