Abstract

A 42-year-old man presented to the emergency department with the complaint of persistent cough and hemoptysis. The clinical and radiological findings suggested a low grade malignancy. An en-bloc resection of the tumour with adherent chest wall and diaphragm was performed. We were surprised to discover chronic non-specific inflammation on histology. Although a few benign intra-thoracic lesions have been mentioned to mimic lung cancer, a non-specific inflammatory mass lesion masquerading as cancer has never been revealed. Here we discuss the diagnostic and therapeutic challenges involved in managing this unique clinical entity.
