Abstract

The present review highlights about Geriatric Health in Saudi Arabia. Geriatric health is not distinct from general population health, maintaining good health in old age is challenging and different. Knowing a few aspects of old age is necessary for a healthy geriatric community. Since 75% of the elderly reside in rural areas, it is mandatory that geriatric health care services be made a part of the primary health care services. The medical industry faces numerous difficulties in developing and implementing comprehensive preventive health protocols for seniors. There are some factors that are common to the elderly segment of the population that may influence these protocols, even though a specific protocol must be altered to meet the specific needs of each patient. This study is concurrent with WHO regarding Decade of Healthy Ageing (2021-2030) seeks to reduce health inequities and improve the lives of older people, their families and communities through collective action in four areas: changing how we think, feel and act towards age and ageism; developing communities in ways that foster the abilities of older people.
