Abstract

This study aimed to assess the practice of HCWM and potential challenges in the southern provinces of DR Congo. Ensuring the safety of the environment and maintaining human health depend on the efficient handling of biological waste. Biomedical waste improper handling is a public health issue. This article also explained the methods of biomedical waste management. This is a cross-sectional study carried out in public and private medical structures in the southern provinces. The management of biomedical waste is a significant challenge in the south of DR Congo in terms of the implementation of the types of bins, the concentration of bleach used and the method of waste disposal. Staff training and awareness of waste management waste is of great interest to the community and the associated employees. The proper identification, separation and disposal of biomedical waste is healthcare professionals' ethical and social responsibility.
